About Family Resource Centre UK
Mission: It is our aim to improve the quality of life of children and their families because Every Family Matters.
Family Resource Centre UK is an award winning, independent, registered charity working with families and professionals. The organisation has been working in Berkshire and beyond for 20 years.
Family Resource Centre UK works closely with parents, carers and professionals to support them with information regarding childcare, leisure activities and other needs in support of education.
Family Resource Centre UK provides this service through a number of projects, with the Family Information Service (FIS) being the largest. Family Resource Centre UK provides the Family Information Service (FIS) on behalf of Bracknell Forest, Reading and West Berkshire Councils. The FIS is a free information service for families with children aged from birth – 19 years old (up to 25 years old for children with Special Needs/ Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LDD)) operating in Bracknell Forest, Reading and West Berkshire.
Other Family Resource Centre UK project work includes the Children’s Opportunity Group (COG), a project developed to help children with LDD/special needs living in Reading and Bracknell Forest to access mainstream leisure activities with the help of a trained volunteer, and several other smaller community based projects.
Family Resource Centre UK is launching a new service in the Summer of 2010, Great Opportunities (GO!). GO! will provide free one-off leisure activity days for children and young people with special needs.
Family Resource Centre UK is pleased to welcome Reading Football Club striker Shane Long as its first Sports Champion. Shane has taken on this role from Spring 2010. He will be working with the special needs projects as well as with other activities undertaken by the charity.
Family Resource Centre UK has a dedicated and knowledgeable staff (including information officers, admin team, marketing team, management team and finance team) and is supported by an enthusiastic and proactive Board of Trustees as well as the many volunteers involved with the organisation.
